Before Your Visit

Pre-Care Instructions

  • Avoid taking aspirin or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as Ibuprofen, Advil®, Motrin®, Nuprin®, Aleve®, Celebrex®, Fish oil, Gingko Biloba , St. John’s Wort and high doses of vitamin E for at least 7-10 days before your appointment, unless medically necessary.
  • If you are taking prescription blood thinners such as Coumadin or Plavix, you should check with the prescribing doctor to see if you are able to stop these medicines for 7-10 days before your appointment and at least 2 days after the procedure has been done.
  • If you have any history of Herpes Simplex (cold sores) on your face, make sure you inform the provider that you have made your appointment with, one week prior to your appointment; this will allow us adequate time to prescribe a medication to prevent an outbreak.
  • Avoid dental procedures (including cleaning) 2 weeks pre filler and 2 weeks post filler
  • Come to your appointment with a clean face.
  • Bruising and swelling will be worse for the first 24-48 hours after you receive your dermal filler injections. Refrain from exercising for the remainder of the day following your injection(s). You may want to refrain from going to any special events during this time.

After Your Treatment

Aftercare Instructions

  • The majority of reactions to dermal fillers are redness, swelling, bruising and tenderness after the injections. These usually subside a few days after the treatment, but can last up to a week. If any of these symptoms persist longer than a week, or if you develop other symptoms, please contact our office.
  • Cold compresses may be used after the treatment to reduce swelling and decrease soreness. You may take Tylenol (if not contraindicated) every 4-6 hours after the treatment to help with any discomfort you may have.
  • Make-up may be applied a few hours after the treatment, if no complications are present, such as open wounds, bleeding or infection.
  • In the first 24 hours following treatment, limit exposure to sunlight or UV lamps. Extensive sun or heat exposure and alcoholic beverages may cause a temporary increase in redness, bruising or swelling at the injection sites. If there is persistent swelling or redness after the injections, you should limit exposure to sunlight or UV lamps until these symptoms subside (for at least 5-7 days). If sun exposure is unavoidable, use a sun block with an SPF of 30 or greater, combined with zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide.
  • Patients should avoid strenuous exercise for 48 hours to prevent moving the filler or increasing blood flow to the face.
  • Avoid excessive touching or massaging the treated areas for about 6 hours after the injections.

Please do not hesitate to call the office with any questions or concerns at 567-560-5558.

Have Questions?

We've compiled answers to the most common questions to help you make informed decisions about your beauty journey.

How Many Syringes Will I Need?

The number of syringes will depend on the severity of correction needed and area patient is trying to restore. Our NP's will always work with you to create a plan that works with your schedule, budget and desired outcome.

Our consultation appointments are complimentary and we would love to help you figure out how many syringes it would take for you achieve your desired results.

Do Dermal Fillers Hurt?

Most people would agree fillers treatments are not too painful but everyones pain tolerance is different. There is a slight "pinch" at the injection sites, but doesn't last long. We will have you numb for most areas with medical grade numbing cream.

Bruising is a possible side effect anytime you are inserting a needle into the skin. See Pre Treatment instructions under the Resources Tab for tips and tricks to help alleviate potential bruising.

If you have anxiety about receiving a dermal filler treatment ask us about adding ProNox to your appointment.

Who Is The Ideal Candidate?

Anyone who is looking for a safe and non-surgical way to turn back time are great candidates for dermal fillers.

Ideal candidates might also have one or more of the following concerns:

  • Thinning or sunken cheeks caused by a loss of volume
  • Thinning or sunken temples caused by a loss of volume
  • Thin or unevenly shaped lips
  • A receding chin
  • Weak jawline
  • Minor nose deformities
  • Deep nose to mouth lines
  • Lines around the mouth

Both men and women are equally good candidates for dermal fillers. If you are considering dermal filler treatments, it is important to have realistic expectations regarding the results you will receive and the fact that it is possible for multiple syringes/treatments to be necessary to achieve them.

What Is The Downtime?

There is no actual downtime with filler. You can resume normal activities afterwards. You will have swelling and possible bruising so keep that in mind when scheduling.

We say don't love it or hate it for 2 weeks! Your filler will go through stages of lumps, bumps and bruising for the first two weeks. You will most likely have highs and lows but around that 2 week mark it should settle into place.

Ask us about Alastin Post Injection Serum!

See Pre/Post Treatment under Resources Tab for all the details to ensure your best outcome.

How Much Does Dermal Filler Cost?

Filler requires a consultation appointment to determine treatment plan and pricing.

Consultations at Beyond Esthetics are complimentary.

How Soon Will I See Results?

Results from filler are immediate. However! There will possibly be lumps, bumps, bruising and swelling. We recommend 2 full weeks before making any changes or wanting to add more. It needs this length of time to settle and for swelling to fully go down.

What Areas Can Be Treated?

Dermal Filler injections help restore collagen and volume that is lost with age, they help to restore your natural balance.

Most common areas for filler are:

  • Lips
  • Cheeks
  • Chin
  • Jawline
  • Nose
  • Marionette Lines
  • Nasolabial Folds
  • Tear Troughs
  • Temples

As always, if you have questions or would like to know if you're a good candidate for filler, let us know! We will schedule you a complimentary consultation appointment with an injector.
