Before Your Visit

Pre-Care Instructions

  • Avoid sun exposure or tanning (apply sunscreen daily and do not tan at all – including self-tanner) for 2 to 4 weeks before and after treatments.
  • Do not use any retinol products (or products containing tretinoin) or exfoliants on the area to be treated for one week.
  • Avoid Accutane (or isotretinoin products) for 6 months prior. Let your doctor know if you have a history of hyperpigmentation.
  • Notify the technician if you have had any cosmetic tattooing on or near the area to be treated.
  • Photosensitizing medications including doxycycline and minocycline should be discontinued three days prior to the treatment.
  • The patient is prepared: photos, informed consent, marking of areas, etc.
  • Clients with red, grey, or blonde hair in the area to be treated should consult with a provider prior to receiving treatments, as the laser is less effective on these hair colors.
  • Clients should SHAVE the hairs on the area to be treated the night before or morning of their laser hair treatment (no waxing, Nair, or tweezing - hairs should be shaved only)
  • During your treatment, you can expect slight discomfort, similar to a rubber-band snap on your skin.

After Your Treatment

Aftercare Instructions

  • Mild redness and swelling of the hair follicles may occur (histamine response). This is normal and should lessen with time. Avoid picking or scratching the skin. Cool cloths and moisturizer may be applied.
  • Avoid sun exposure for 2 to 4 weeks after your treatment and prior to your next treatment. Unprotected sun exposure may lead to undesired results, including hyperpigmentation (dark areas).
  • Allow a minimum of 7 to 14 days post-treatment for hair to “fall out" or shed from the skin.
  • On average, clients experience up to 30% reduction of active hair follicles after each treatment.
  • Avoid tight clothing, boots, heated seats, etc. The body needs time to cool down after.
  • You may experience slight redness, bumps, and swelling in the treated area for up to 72 hours. treatment to avoid complications.
  • Avoid activities that increase body temperature for at least 2 hours after treatment.
  • Makeup and deodorant may be reapplied immediately if the skin is not irritated.

How Many Treatment Will I Need?

Multiple treatments may be required to provide your long-lasting results. Hair grows in three phases: new growth, regression or resting. Laser treatment only affects hair when it is in the new growth phase. A consultation will help you better understand laser treatment and the results the treatment achieves. We typically recommend a minimum package of 4-8 treatments for neck down and 4-10 treatments for face spaced 6 weeks apart.

Does Laser Hair Removal Hurt?

This is one of the most exciting facts about the Diolaze, the laser head is designed to provide pre, during and post treatment cooling to the skin to provide a painless treatment. In the rare event that a client is sensitive to the treatment, we do have Pro-Nox that actually lessens your awareness to pain.

Who Is An Ideal Candidate?

We can treat most skin types. This new laser technology has yielded a safe experience even for clients with darker skin types.

We do not to treat pregnant patients. Should you become pregnant during laser hair removal sessions, we simply finish your package after you deliver. We do, however, treat nursing women.

For the safest results, we need you to be as close to your natural color as possible. Tanning is not allowed for two weeks before the treatment or two weeks after having laser hair removal. Self tanner is not allowed 2 weeks prior to treatment.

How Much Does It Cost?

Laser Hair Removal requires a consultation appointment to determine treatment plan and pricing.

What Is The Downtime?

There is no downtime with Laser Hair Removal and you may apply makeup and return to normal activities immediately after treatment.

How Soon Will I See Results?

Usually you will see results within two to three weeks after your first session. Many of our patients see a big difference after their first session with some reporting a 50% reduction in hair, but experience has taught us that they will see regrowth and you will use all the treatments in your package.

Reduction of hair bumps and ingrown hairs will be markedly noticeable even after your first session. 

You should see about 80 to 95 percent reduction in hair growth. The follicles that remain are damaged and produce a finer hair than you had before laser treatment. You can expect to shave much less than you do now. Some of our patients shave once a week, some once a month; some don’t have to shave at all.

I Have PCOS, Can I Get Treated?

Yes, DiolazeXL will work on PCOS patients, or women who have “hormonal issues". With Laser Hair Removal you will get a reduction of anywhere from 60-80% of hair growth. PCOS patients should expect to do touch up sessions anywhere from two to three times per year after completing a package. 

Can I Tweeze Or Wax Between Treatments?

Waxing and tweezing must be avoided for six weeks before treatment. Shaving is permitted and actually encouraged before treatment.
